Choosing a favorite book is like being forced to pick a favorite sibling or a favorite child. Singling out a few books out of the thousands that I have read is - HARD. How do you pick? I've loved so many! It's a VERY good thing that no one will be offended, because books don't have feelings! Ha!
I have always loved a good page-turning mystery and will happily kill an afternoon reading a one. As a kid I loved all of the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden and Madeleine L'Engle's "Wrinkle in Time" (psyched for the movie!)
My sister-in-law, Cynthia Horrigan, has a wonderful library of great books and has been my "pusher" to many wonderful reads. When Cynthia introduced me to the Harry Potter books, and it was like a new world opened up. I loved the tales of magic, friendship and friends working together to defeat evil.
I was really compelled by “The DaVinci Code” by Dan Brown. I could hardly put it down. The idea of a book taking place in real places, using historical icons and facts woven into a fast-paced fictional story - BOOM - mind blown.
As I tinkered with the idea of writing a book, I knew I wanted to bring in the elements from “The DaVinci Code” and the Harry Potter books that made them so good. Writing the kind of book I liked to read? Probably a good idea. It’s getting published so I must have done something right.
